OKI Printing Solutions provide the right recipe for supermarket leaders

23/02/2006

Meny, a leading Norwegian supermarket chain, required an innovative mall-based printing solution where shoppers could select and print colour recipe cards, quickly and easily.

The chain wanted to offer this service through touch-screens incorporated into a free-standing, on mall information stations.

OKI Printing Solutions worked with the retailer from the early stages of product development, to provide an integrated colour laser printing solution for the machines.

Four C3200s were incorporated into the four pilot recipe machines. These very affordable printers were customised, making them a small and discreet function. Key attributes were the speed and quality of print, with a quick print first page together with a single pass mechanism to prevent print jams.

The service and backup solution is provided by 3rd party technical organisations that cover Norway. The reason for working with OKI Printing Solutions was our flexible attitude and approach, and a strong belief in our products.

Runar Skaalen at Meny says: "The concept of customers using our new info stations to obtain recipe cards before they do their weekly shop is a new and exciting idea. For us, it was essential that the cards were produced very quickly, with maximum ease, and with superior clarity of print.

He continued: "This concept differentiates us from our competitors and allows us to offer added value to our customers' overall shopping experience. We knew we had to get this service to function right on the first attempt or else face putting our customers off before they'd even got to the checkout. Working with OKI Printing Solutions means our customers get quality results, quickly and easily, first time. We are now looking to roll out the scheme across our 140 outlets."
